An old friend of Kogeru's -- or, so it seems -- Hikari is a well-trained assassin who has no qualms about killing. That is, provided it doesn't violate her personal code of honor. She believes in bringing swift justice (often in the form of death) to all those who deserve it, the moral alignment and gender of the violators be damned. Her concern is honor and justice, not good and evil, though she seems to have little issue with the others' good inclinations, and does show some concern over the destruction caused by evil beings. Giving an outward indifferent attitude most of the time, Hikari is more caring and sometimes more unsure of herself than she lets on. The shinobi also has a soft spot for Mushin, who looks up to her as an older sister.

History[]

Template:SpoilerStart

As revealed in Chapter 7, Hikari comes from an undisclosed region in Senjokuni, as part of the Ueno Shinobi Clan. Her uncle, Hanzo, is the jonin, or shinobi clan leader. Attacked by a warlord fearing their power, much of the Ueno clan's strength and numbers were diminished. Hanzo began accepting contracts he normally would find dishonorable in order to help finance the clan's rebuilding.

Morally objected to this decision, Hikari challenged Hanzo for clan leadership, as was her right as a clan captain... A battle that she lost. Rather than execute her as per law, Hanzo banished her from the clan instead, ordering that she not return unless she could accept his choice in the clan's assassinations. Hikari was allowed to bring her weapons and a few provisions, but nothing else.

After her exile, she sought out Kogeru and Mushin, finally finding them in Primo. It is still unknown how she knows the other two Senjose.

Trivia[]

  • Hikari has no last name because in Senjose culture, only the warrior and noble classes are allowed to have family names.
  • Though an assassin and therefore a being of the shadows, her name, "Hikari" means "light" in Senjose. It was chosen by her parents because they had an odd sense of humor.
